Meet Ncutie105!This is one of my Natural Hair inspirations from fotki that I really wanted to feature on my blog. I hope you enjoy her interview. I know I sure did. I hope that she experiences even more success on her Natural Hair Journey because I sure am learning a lot, and I'm loving the hair that I'm seeing!

How long have you been natural?

I started to transition in April 2008 and I did the Big Chop on March 7th, 2009.

What inspired you to go natural?

I have always felt the urge to go natural, especially in high school. My aunt and I had planned to go natural and start locks together, unfortunately she passed before we could ever get it started. Five years later, after the damage from the relaxers really kicked in, I decided I was through with relaxers and I began transitioning.

What products do you use on your hair? (Describe your Regimen) 

I normally use all natural products such as Unrefined Shea Butter, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (evoo), Coconut Oil and occasionally I use the Carol’s Daughter, Aubrey’s, Kinky Curly and Oyin’s Handmade product lines. Currently, I do henna treatments once a week along with deep conditioning with my favorite conditioner Aubrey’s Honey Suckle Rose. In addition, with the aforementioned, I wash my hair with Oyin Handmade grand poo bar weekly and I apply daily some type of oil. 
 

What’s your favorite hairstyle to wear? How do you achieve this look? (Submit a picture if at all possible) 

My favorite style was Braid-outs and Twist-outs because it is easy and looks great!

Have you ever had to deal with negative comments regarding your decision to go natural? If so, how did you deal with it?
When I first began transitioning, I remember being at work and this African-American male approached me as if there was something he had to say that was extremely important and that no one else could hear. So, I walked to the side with him, as he lead, and he said, “I think it is time for you to get a perm, your hair is beginning to look nappy”. So, politely, I explained to him that there was no need for me to get a perm and I was going to cut all of the straight ends off eventually. He had a look of astonishment as if something I said was outlandish and responded politely, “Okay, I understand”. Another time after I BC’ed, I would normally wear my hair with KCCC to work but this particular day I wore my ‘fro. A Caucasian male approached me at work and stated to me that he did not like my hair that and I should wear it curly. This comment was not deserving of a rebuttal because I knew he would not understand. Other than those two events, I have not really had too many negative comments. I love me for me, all-inclusive, so people’s negative looks or comments do not affect me.

What is the best part about being natural? 
The best part about being natural is that I can truly and completely be who I am. Also, considering I live in Hawaii, I am able to go to the beach and get in the water without the worry I use to have when I had a relaxer.

Who are some other naturals that have inspired you? 

The main natural who has really inspired me is Erykah Badu. I love her whole style. 
 

Hair is an expression of who we are. What does your hair tell us about you? 

Simply, my hair shows I am real. I have nothing to hide, I am who I am and I love who I am.

What’s one piece of advice that you would give to a natural newbie? 

Enjoy each and every moment of transitioning, even the times when it seems hard and you have those “my-hair-is-not-working-with-me-today” days.
 

What is your ultimate hair goal? How long do you think it will take before you achieve it? 

I have recently started locks with two-strand twist. I know this will take awhile to lock completely however, I believe it will be liberating.
